Mondays with Melanie #46

Two weekends ago, Masonic youth from all over the state gathered at Greene Family Camp for a weekend of team building and Masonic family time at the annual Masonic Youth Weekend. Once all of the youth arrived, they were divided into four teams led by the state officers of DeMolay and Rainbow. Sports included tug-o-war, volleyball, kickball, and basketball. Team building activities included low ropes, helium stick, cup stack, egg toss and bill writing to propose bill for Government Day 2013. Each team was awarded points based on rank and on cooperation within the team.

Last Monday was a very special day in Texas Rainbow. Tomball-Mt. Houston Assembly #310 had their very first initiation since moving to their new home at Tomball Masonic Lodge. The room was overflowing with so many adults, including our Supreme Deputy, Mrs. JoAnn Weaver, along with Mr. Bruce Weaver, Member of the Grand Executive Committee, and Mrs.

Unfortunately, I was unable to travel out of town in the past week due to illness, so I regretfully was not able to join Waco or Lampassas, as originally planned.  I’m on the road to recovery and should be able to hit the road again this Friday.  Though I was “grounded” all week, this past weekend I was able to represent Texas on a state level when I participated in 159th Grand Conclave of the Grand Commandery Knights Templar of Texas.

Happy Monday to everyone!  This I have been focused on my college classes & finalizing detail for Grand Assembly.  Our special time in Waco is coming up really fast & will be here in just over 9 weeks.  I’m getting super excited & I hope all of you are, too! It’s definitely going to be amazzzzzzzzzzzzzing!

Speaking of Grand Assembly, I have several reminders:

This past week I have dedicated my time to school and working on special tasks for Grand Assembly. There has been a lot of painting, hammering, cuts, bruises and a nice farmer’s tan. Everything is coming along great and it is truly hard to believe that there are only 10 weeks left until Grand Assembly.  Speaking of Grand Assembly, it has been announced that for fun night we will be attending Hawaiian Falls in Waco. A water park! Only Texas Rainbow will be inside for the event and we will have a DJ and people to instruct water games as well as hamburgers and hotdogs for dinner.

I was a very busy bee this past week! I have been doing my surprise visits and last Monday I headed north to visit Trinity River Assembly.  It was so great to see them and the Assembly Room was decorated with the Ronald McDonald House bees and other bumblebees.  Nora served as Worthy Advisor and did a great job! It was also great to see the Masons from the lodge present. After the meeting, we had some delicious snacks; nachos and cake. We also received a very beautiful presentation by Mrs.

Last week was really quiet. I attended the Melrose Stated on Monday & we had a great turn out. Then on Thursday, I attended Aldine's meeting where I was able to pro-tem as Chaplain. This meeting was fun because they did a "Mary Rainbow" initiation to brush up on their ritual work.

This past week I was able to, once again, make some surprise visits. On Tuesday, I went to visit West Side Assembly in Katy. It was a lot of fun to see the girls and also perform balloting.  It is exciting to know that they are growing and sharing Rainbow.

On Monday of last week, I attended the Melrose stated meeting which was a lot of fun because we voted on our banner design, as well as planned a sleep over to work on it. It is going to be super cute and all of the girls are very excited. I cannot wait to actually start work on it!

Last week was pretty busy for me.  Monday I surprised Nacogdoches Assembly at their stated meeting.  It was great to see their girls, along with Sarah Rowland, Past Grand Chaplain.  They had “Love Bug” themed decorations in the dining room with yummy refreshments.
