Mondays with Melanie #32

This week has been pretty slow for me. I was a bit under the weather early in the week, so it was nice to have little time to rest.  My only event was to visit San Antonio #3 for their Installation of Officers. It was tons of girls to see girls from Alice, Austin, Plano, San Antonio and some of the San Antonio Pledge girls. At the Installation, Jenna Harlan, Grand Hope was installed as Worthy Advisor. Her theme is all about the beach; her emblems were body and boogie boards.

It was great week for me this week. College started back up and I got back into the swing of things after my winter break. I hope everyone enjoyed their break and are as excited as me to go back to school. We have all made it to the midway point and are now just around the corner from summer and Grand Assembly. Congratulations seniors! I know this is when prom and graduation starts to get very exciting. Finish strong; I know you will all do well.

I was an extremely busy bee last week!  Sunday afternoon was a lot of fun because I was able to join some of my Eastern Star Brothers & Sisters, as well as Rainbow Advisors from the area, in being initiated in the Daughters of the Nile. They have such a pretty ceremony and it was a very unique experience because the Supreme Queen was making her Official Visit Tabeel Temple. Following the Ceremonial, we had a banquet to honor the Supreme Queen, Laura Richardson. She was so nice!

Last Tuesday, I was back on the road to travel to Farmer’s Branch for an Honor meeting. I was so happy to see everyone and also be able to witness their elections. Congratulations to all of the newly elected officers; I know you will all do great! Rainbow sisters from Plano also attended the meeting and participated in it. Boston White, our Grand Worthy Associate Advisor, served Worthy Advisor and did a very lovely job. Other Grand Officers in attendance were Alison Montgomery, Ariel Smith and Brianna Lee. We were especially pleased to have our Supreme Deputy, Mrs.

Happy New Year! I hope everyone has enjoyed their time off from school and work this past weekend. This past week, I especially enjoyed spending time with my family. My Grandmother, Jimmie Ruth Whitton, Past Worthy Advisor & Past Mother Advisor of Melrose #167, flew in from Virginia to see me initiated into Melrose Chapter #920 OES. I am now officially the 4th generation of my mom’s family to join Melrose Eastern Star Chapter.

First off, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I hope everyone enjoyed spending time together with their family. This past week I had a very unique opportunity. I was able to participate in the constituting ceremony of Rose Assembly #382. This means they no longer have their Letters Temporary and were a constituted a regular chartered assembly by Supreme Assembly.

Week 26! Wow, it is hard to believe that I have already spent half a year with y’all. Although it is far from over, it has been a blast and I have enjoyed every minute of it. This past week my weekend was very busy. It started off early in the morning when Northwest Lodge held their quarterly blood drive. The Reagan DeMolay boys and some of the Melrose girls woke up early to help prepare breakfast for the blood donors and to clean up the lodge. The food was delicious and everyone appreciated their hard work. Later in the day was the Northwest Lodge Annual Christmas party.

Since I have been getting over being sick was unable to make any events besides my meeting on Monday. The Melrose girls went to Build-a-bear on Thursday to stuff over 300 bears to distribute to the Houston hospitals. They had tons of fun and practically took over the store.

Mondays with Melanie #23 on Wednesday :)

I apologize to my faithful readers out there for my Monday blog being late. I am getting over being sick.

This last week was fun, fast-paced and filled with fraternal family fellowship. On Wednesday night, my Dad and I traveled to Waco to be there for the Grand Lodge official opening on Thursday, where I was to bring greetings on behalf of the Grand Assembly of Texas. Wednesday night following my arrival, I was lucky enough to have dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Weaver to discuss some super top secret aspects of Grand Assembly. It is going to bee amazzzzzzzzzzzing. After dinner, we returned to our hotels before being up bright and early to man the Rainbow booth. I put up some new pictures and I encourage everyone to stop by and see the booth at Mid-year or at Spring Fling at TMRC. In the early afternoon on Thursday, I was honored to bring greetings to those attending Grand Lodge and to present Grand Master Carnes with a Rainbow bible. Everything went very smoothly, and while in the East, we were fortunate enough to sit behind Worthy Grand Matron and Worthy Grand Patron, Mrs. Griffin and Mr. D.

Monday's with Melanie #22

I hope everyone enjoyed a terrific Thanksgiving; I know I did.

Last week was very exciting for me because I had been looking forward to visiting my brother, Randall, in San Antonio. He has been at Lackland Air Force Base for Basic Training and this was the first time I was able to see him in 7 ½ weeks. On Wednesday night, my family drove to San Antonio to be able to pick him up bright and early Thursday morning, along with a fellow airman from his squadron. It was so great to see him and he looked awesome! After picking them up, we went back to the hotel to allow RJ, his “wingman”, to Skype with his wife and children in Florida, before we went to breakfast. I have never seen two people enjoy food so much! Following breakfast, we went to the Fenton’s for a family-style Thanksgiving feast. We were so blessed to have been able to share the day with them and we appreciate their gracious invitation more than they will ever know. There are photos on Facebook of our festivities, if you’d like to see them. Following lunch we were able to just relax. The guys enjoyed that very much, and some of us even got to practice “flying” (ha ha ha - Air Force) off the swing set. After we had time to laugh about some of the fun experiences that RJ and Randall have had, it was time to return them to base for the night. This was the first time I was ever on an Air Force Base and it was a little scary for me. A heartfelt thank you to The Fenton’s for allowing us to attend Thanksgiving at your home; it will be one of my favorite memories of my year as Grand Worthy Advisor. This shows that Rainbow friendship goes way beyond seeing each other at a Rainbow meeting or even at Fraternal Family events around the state; we truly are truly one big family!
