Mrs. Angela Seymour, Supreme Deputy
Born into a Masonic Family in North Houston, I grew up at Melrose Lodge, where my maternal grandparents were active in Masonry, Eastern Star, York Rite and Beauceant, and their four children were Rainbow Girls and a DeMolay. With a Masonic legacy instilled at a young age, my sister and I joined the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls as soon as we each turned 12. As an active member of Melrose Assembly #167 from 1974 to 1983, I served as Worthy Advisor, Grand Representative to North Carolina, and Junior Member of the Grand Examining Committee. My years in Rainbow were, without question, the most significant of my life.
While serving as DeMolay Chapter Sweetheart, I met Steven Seymour, who was a Gulf Coast Area DeMolay Officer. He accompanied me to my senior prom in 1980 and we married in 1983. Steven became a Master Mason at Bellaire Lodge in 1981, the same year I joined Eastern Star. I was the third generation of my family to become a member of Melrose Chapter #920, who later consolidated with Humble Chapter #415. As a result of our involvement with DeMolay, Steven and I have both served as DeMolay Advisors and held State Staff positions for the Texas DeMolay Association for many years. We are Charter Members of Houston Court #2, Order of the Amaranth, who later merged with Baytown Court #1, we served as Royal Matron and Royal Patron. Honored with Supreme Appointments, we served as Deputy Supreme Royal Matron and Patron for 15 years. Steven continues to be active in Masonry, having served Bellaire Lodge and Northwest Lodge as Worshipful Master, and is currently serving as Treasurer and Secretary, respectively. He enthusiastically serves Texas Rainbow as an Adult Grand Officer, having served on the Committee on Work, the Grand Finance Committee, and as State Rainbow Dad in 2011-2012.
Both of our children were active in the Texas Masonic Youth Organizations. My son, Randall, joined DeMolay in 2000 and served as Master Councilor. He later served Texas DeMolay as State Master Councilor in 2006-2007 and became the first 18-year-old Master Mason in Texas. My daughter, Melanie, joined Job’s Daughters and later joined Rainbow, serving as Worthy Advisor for Melrose Assembly and as Grand Worthy Advisor in Texas in 2011-2012.
I served as a member of the Melrose Assembly Advisory Board for 18 years, serving in various elected Board positions and as Mother Advisor for four terms. Appointed to serve Grand Assembly on the Grand Committee, and for 5 years I was privileged to be Director of the All-Girls Conference, a leadership retreat for Rainbow members of all ages.
The Grand Assembly of Texas divides our state into five geographic regions. I served as Coordinator of the Houston Area, consisting of seven assemblies, for three years. During this time, I coordinated or participated in Rainbow Universities, social events, fundraisers, charity projects, event assignments for Grand Assembly sessions and Grand Tour events involving the official visits of our Supreme Inspector, Grand Worthy Advisor, and Grand Officers.
In 2015, I was pleased to be appointed to the Grand Executive Committee. While serving in this position, I have assisted in various capacities throughout my tenure. I chaired the 2020 Mid-Year Meeting in Houston. I have twice been a part of dress code revisions, which the Executive Committee approved and disseminated for the Grand Assembly of Texas. I have participated in the interview process which results in the election of line officers and the selection of the appointed Grand Officers. I have contributed to revision of the interview questions, thereby allowing this process to be updated on a regular basis. In addition, I have participated in our annual statewide Adult Leadership Conference and made presentations on various topics.
In 2023, I was honored by my appointment as Grand Deputy for Melrose Assembly #167, where I was initiated on December 16, 1974. Melrose is where my Rainbow journey began. Without question, this Order and its beautiful teachings have distinctly influenced my life, and they continue to do so today.
With a desire to help others, I have worked in health care, in varying capacities, for over 45 years. As a Physical Therapy Aide in high school, to Operating Room Scheduler, Medical Assistant, Office Manager, and Practice Manager, I have enjoyed assisting patients at a variety of facilities and specialties for over 45 years. I am currently the Administrative Coordinator for the Sleep Department of Texas Ear, Nose, and Throat Specialists, where I have been employed for the past 13 years.
Having been intimately involved with Texas Masonic youth organizations, Steven and I made thoughtful resolutions when we married to serve these Orders, attempting to give back for all that we received from them. Our journey, so far, has endured for over 40 years, and we can only hope that we have made a small difference to others, as our Advisors did for us and for our children. Steven and I are a united team; we face the challenges and opportunities in life together, with immeasurable love and support.
I am excited for the opportunities that lie before me as Supreme Deputy. As I embark on this new endeavor, I am confident that Rainbow in Texas will evolve, grow, and flourish, continuing to bless the lives of all who are associated with it for generations to come.
