Mrs. JoAnn Weaver, Supreme Love, Past Supreme Inspector, and Member of the House of Gold
I have been so fortunate in this life to be the third generation of Masonic affiliation in my family. It was my honor to see my father receive his fifty-year Masonic pin. It was due to his love for the Order and my mothers involvement in the Order of the Eastern Star that my sister and I were both Rainbow Girls and my brother was a DeMolay. I enjoyed being an active Rainbow Girl in Houston Heights Assembly #10 and received my majority. My husband, Bruce Weaver, is an active and lifetime member of Plano Lodge #768. He also serves as an Adult Grand Officer, IORG, Past Chairman of the Grand Committee on Work and is a Past State Rainbow Dad. My husband, daughter and I continue to be active members of McKinney Chapter, OES.
We were thrilled with the interest expressed by our son and daughter to join DeMolay and Rainbow. My son is a Past Master Councilor of Farmers Branch DeMolay Chapter and was very active in the Chevalier Court. He has since become a Master Mason at James A. Smith Masonic Lodge #395. My daughter was initiated into Midland Assembly #193 where I was involved as a parent. After relocating to the Dallas area my daughter served as Worthy Advisor of Plano Assembly #320 and is a Past Grand Worthy Advisor of Texas. She also served as part of the Supreme Task Force for several years.
Serving as a member of the Advisory Board of Plano Assembly #320 for over twenty-five years was a highlight in my fraternal journey as I was able to work with the girls daily, seeing them grow and benefit from our Rainbow organization. During that time, I served as Mother Advisor for three terms as well as Chairman of the Advisory Board for
several years.
Having always had a passion for ritualistic work, I was privileged to be asked to create a Ritualistic Competition program on the state level in the late 1990’s and was appointed Grand Deputy for Plano, Richardson and Farmers Branch Assemblies in
addition to chairing a group that worked to form a new Assembly (Elm Valley Assembly). I have lead groups of adults to revitalize several Assemblies. The additional responsibility of being a member of the Grand Executive Committee came in 2000, and I was fortunate to serve as the Chairman of the committee for two years prior to being
appointed as Supreme Deputy for the State of Texas in 2011.
Being appointed Supreme Deputy in Texas was such a joy as I was able to work with young ladies across the State of Texas including my two granddaughters who had become pledge girls and then Rainbow Girls. One of my most cherished memories was watching both Granddaughters hold Grand Offices and one as Grand Worthy Advisor, excelling at their highest levels in all they did. I am blessed with an amazing Grandson who is just as dedicated to his own organizations with pillars much the same as the Masonic organizations.
After serving 9 years as Supreme Deputy, I was elected to the House of Gold and became the Supreme Inspector in Texas. This honor bestowed on me by the members of the House of Gold is one that I cannot describe. Fraternal bodies have become the backbone of my essence and my family. This gift is one that will be cherished always. In 2022 I was appointed to Supreme Religion. This station was so fitting as I have always been steadfast in my faith in God. When all else has failed, he is there and
carries me through all trials.
In 2024, I made the decision to retire as Supreme Inspector in Texas and turn the day-to-day leadership over to the next leader in Texas. The Rainbow organization and all its members have stayed as important to me as they were when I first started serving. At the Supreme session that same year, I had the distinct honor to be appointed as Supreme Love. Again, this station is so fitting as I often tell the girls and adults that they all have a special place in my heart. I truly love Rainbow, and I look forward to all that will come.
Being a Masonic and Eastern Star family with a very special interest in Rainbow continues to keep our family one with a strong bond to help and support each other in whatever new endeavors we may encounter. My husband and I have always worked as
a team, and we have the joy of working with and watching our children raise our grandchildren into the next Masonic generation.
